Get Up to $3,500 Toward Training with
the StrongerBC Future Skills Grant
Thanks to the StrongerBC Future Skills Grant, eligible BC residents can receive up to $3,500 to cover tuition for approved short-term training programs – like the Microcertificate in Leadership in Sustainable Mine Closure from UBC BRIMM.
You must register for either microcertificate in order to be eligible.
This grant ends soon, you must be registered for a program by the end of January 2026.
What’s Covered?

Up to $3,500 per person
Financial support for eligible courses to help advance your career in sustainable mine closure.

Full or Partial Coverage
Can fully or partially cover tuition for one or more courses in the mine closure microcertificate.

Direct Payment
Paid directly to UBC, so you don't need to pay up front and wait for reimbursement.
Who’s Eligible?
You may qualify if you:
- Are 19 years or older (or will turn 19 before the course starts)
- Live in British Columbia
- Are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Haven’t previously received funding from this grant
How to Apply
Log in to the Future Skills Grant Portal to sign into your account or create one.
Fill out your profile and follow the on-screen steps to complete your registration.
Choose the Mine Closure Strategy course from the list of eligible training programs.
Start your training with zero out-of-pocket tuition – if you’re eligible, the Future Skills Grant covers the cost.
You must register for either microcertificate in order to be eligible.
